"A most memorable moment was the appearance, in our area of work in Liberia, of Col. Henry G. MacDonald, Group Commander of our bomb group. He informed me that I was being promoted to captain and was being awarded the Bronze Star Medal because of my outstanding work, results and success in the Casey Jones Project. I was credited with having flown the most Casey Jones missions, having covered the most areas and having he most successful photo results."

"In 1969, I was in charge of the casualty ward at Oakland Naval Hospital. Medrano was a Hispanic, the toughest Marine I ever saw, who had lost a limb and most of the skin on the back of his lower extremities. I operated on him abot six times, never once hearing him complain, and I eventually saw him walking in uniform on his two legs."

"My most memorable moment is meeting, in 1964, in Panama, a young lady, Dianne Geddes. She was an employee of the Pan Canal Company and originally from New Yourk City. We married six weeks later, and now have two children and three grandchildren."

"My most memorable moment is sitting in a snow bank on th side of the road at 3am, with 30-knot winds at 30 degrees below zero near Minot, North Dekota. The truck we were traveling in to a Minute Man Missile silo was on fire. The folks in Minot earn their pay!"

"My most memorable moment is when I was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. It was September 1971, west of Da Nang Air Base in Vietnam, and we had troops in a contact situation in Vietnam. We were able to bring close air support to bear, rescue the downed helicopter and crew and send the enemy scurrying away."
